What Audiences Are Saying
about Theater of Witness performances

Such strength, wisdom and vision – your stories have made my mind swell to the point of bursting.

Reconciliation before my very eyes!

Thank you for making me feel grateful!

Moved to the depth of my being!

This was amazing. You invited us into a sacred experience of transformation.

What you have to offer can open the way to healing and peace.

Heart rending! This performance broke through the seal I have built around my heart to lessen the pain of the last 40 years. It is lovely to see that women can be so resilient and powerful.

Life changing.

Thank you all for your honesty and truth….You are real peace makers.

Powerful, profound, I feel proud to be a woman. Thank you for the honor of listening to your stories. I feel hopeful about the future.

Very moving. Powerful. Makes me want to make a difference.

This play will definitely stay with me for the rest of my life.

I hope and pray I never forget this feeling of vulnerability/compassion/discomfort. I want to join in the conversation for peace – whatever that looks like in my life.

The voices of hope are stronger than the voices of fear.

About Theater of Witness

Theater of Witness is an innovative form of testimonial theater developed by founder and artistic director, Teya Sepinuck in 1986 in which the true stories of people whose voices haven’t been heard in society are shaped into original theater and films performed by the people themselves. The performers share their own true stories of trauma, marginalization, resilience and transcendence.
The purpose of this work is to open the hearts of audiences to humanize ‘the other’ and bring people together across divides of difference. Theater of Witness is authentic, raw story-telling that cultivates compassion and understanding while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit and fostering empathy and understanding.

Support our Work
Theater of Witness is created from the passion and commitment of many indivduals with a diverse set of skills. Together we support the performers who mine their own lives in order to share their life experiences and wisdom, teaching us about love, truth-telling, justice, courage and peace-building. None of this can happen without many hands and hearts. We are so grateful for your generous tax-deductible gift.
